How to Wear a 1950's Dress, 60 Years Later

As a fan of clothing styles from the 1930's - 1960's, and a holder of the belief that there is nothing more flattering on a woman than a little summer dress (in the summer, provided the dress fits),  I was very happy to run across this young woman wearing what I would consider the perfect summer outfit.  The dress, with the fitted waist/full skirt style popular in the 50's, fits her well, is a good length, and looks very modern with the purple sandals.
