I've just returned from spending four glorious days with my boyfriend, in New York. My boyfriend doesn't live in New York, my boyfriend IS New York.
It's a long distance relationship that started many, many years ago, and we don't see each other very often, but thoughts of him keep me going when things get tough around here, and I know that if I can just spend a few days with him, I'll be good to go for at least a few months.
What do I love about my boyfriend? Well, I'm glad you asked....
bite-sized cupcake walk-up window in SoHo
He can be sweet....
pumpkin-seed crusted mahi mahi tacos at the Rocking Horse Cafe
or spicy, depending on what I'm in the mood for (note: The Rocking Horse Cafe has the most delicious salsa I've ever tasted)
puppies in the window of Citipup in Chelsea
New York understands how much I want a dog of my own, and until that is possible, provides me with lots of opportunities to cuddle adorable pups.
Halloween decorations at Chelsea Market
New York knows how to decorate for the holidays
and has good taste in art

New York embraces the modern, and recognizes the value of the past
Valerie and Jean, aka The Idiosyncratic Fashionistas, and yours truly
New York has the most stylish, fabulous friends, and doesn't mind sharing them with me

When I'm spending time with my boyfriend, I'm very, very happy! And really, isn't that what want out of our relationships?
I have a ton of photos to edit, so in the meantime, you can see some photos from my adventures at the Manhattan Vintage Show on the Idiosyncratic Fashionista's blog. Later this week - the eye candy overload of "Fashion Underground: The World of Susanne Bartsch" at the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
What a lovely boyfriend you have! The picture of the three of you fashionistas is awesome - so very symmetrical!

ReplyDeleteThis guy treats you like a queen, feeds you well, dresses well, likes animals, and is liked by everyone. I've heard he's into open relationships. Is this true?! I hope I can crash that party someday. Great photos, Shelley. You look so happy in your haori! These shots should get you through to your next adventure.

ReplyDeleteAn affair to remember! New York can be all things to all people - cultured art historian or streetwise stud. As Melanie said, he is into open relationships. I know this because in my blog feed, Patti and Alyson Walsh are both talking about him, too. Oh, well, there's plenty of him to go around! Glad you had such an enjoyable and restorative trip.
ReplyDeleteThe perfect relationship - long distance, and he never talks back! Bet you had a fabulous time, you're certainly looking amazing (and very happy!) xxx
