and now, for a brief intermission from the New York Chronicles......
Winter's comin' folks! There was frost on the cars this morning, and we had our first dusting of snow here the week I was in New York. I have been reluctantly digging into my stash of cold weather outerwear, and today I pulled out this wool cape that I purchased for an extremely good price a year or so ago at Lovesick. It's made in Ireland and I love the colour combination. I don't wear it often because as much as I love the sweeping majesty of a cape, they can be very awkward to wear, especially if you carry a cross-shoulder bag. Today felt like a cape day, so I switched to a purse that can be carried in my hand. It's very windy here and the various sections of my cape have been dramatically flying all over the place; very "Heathcliff on the Moors".
Hmmmm...now where did I leave my Deerstalker cap?
I'm sure there's a mystery that needs solving, or a criminal who needs catching, so I'd best be off.
Stay warm!
Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww you are sooooooooo perfect for this coming 15th. You have to share-in-Style.
ReplyDeleteWe need youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
That's a magnificent cape, Shelley! Bold and beautiful, like your good self! Great colours, and you wear it very well - you've solved the mystery of keeping warm and stylish, I see! xxxxx
ReplyDeleteThat certainly is ..... PLAID.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderfully dramatic piece. And the colors in that plaid are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThat is truly beautiful! I would wear it around the house if I needed to keep warm. And I would definitely wear it with blue shoes like yours for going out of the house.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a glorious cape - I love the length , the colors, and the way you're owning it : >
ReplyDeleteOh my lordy I'm having a rather lovely swoon-fest over you in your ankle-grazing cape!! It's completely amazing and it even has pockets!! The colours are perfection ... but when it comes to green, it's ALWAYS a win-win for me:). Glorious my love!! xoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI adore capes, but yes, they are tricky to wear with bags, both cross-body and shoulder. I just gave one away...but I want another like yours! Lovely piece.
ReplyDeleteLovely! And I am so glad to have found someone else that makes Wuthering Heights outfit references. :D :D :D
ReplyDeleteCor! That's one fabulous cape! You should wear it all the time, you look like a superhero! x
ReplyDeleteOh yes, we are both coat fanatics. I love this and am shedding a tear as I write this. I had a very similar style cape from Ireland that I had thrifted, except it was slightly shorter and also had some mohair to it, and I GAVE IT AWAY when I moved to the UK. Crazy? You bet.
ReplyDeleteWow - such a great cape ! Gorgeous .
ReplyDeleteBy still my heart, the plaid matches at the seam! Beautiful cape.
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous. I'm really digging' the shoes/boots. Are they Docs?
ReplyDeletebisous
Suzanne
I found the boots in a thrift store in New York - they do look like Docs, but they are cheap, non-leather imitations (very comfortable though!).
Deletethat's The Cape!!, such a fabulous plaid-itude, and it's long and floaty and so awesome my mouth is watering!! I think it's love at first plaid!
ReplyDeleteyou're gorgeous and love your martens, dear lady!
besos & ol'style detectives!
OMG!!! I love and covet your cape, darling!!!
ReplyDeleteI am a cape fan, but agree that they can be terribly awkward! Especially the longer ones.
It's a great plaid, and will also double as a picnic blanket in Summer! XXX
That's tartan-tastic!
ReplyDeleteSo stylish, and it does look like it will keep you warm!
ReplyDeleteEver beautiful plaid, great length, and excellent with your blue boots!!!
ReplyDeleteNothing like the drama of a cape! I think it was worth the inconvenience, just for the opportunity to sweep through the day in plaid. And allow us the pleasure of viewing you as you pose with perfection in this wonderful piece of wearable art.
ReplyDeleteThat is truly beautiful !
ReplyDeleteThis is splendid cape Shelley, and are you wearing Docs?
ReplyDeleteGetting cold here too, my winter clothes have been out for a while, nature oblige! in other words, not a fecking choice!
As for the PV for the lens, your optician could have given you your PV - It's on your lens prescription, but sometimes they are reluctant in giving you this info - They have no rights not giving your PV, It's your medical file - Mine was reluctant cause they know they loose money with lens on line , but he gave it to me - Next time he gives a hard time i will call their Order
My optician wouldn't give me my PV -they said I had to come to the office to get it done which meant I would have probably had to pay for it. They definitely don't want you to buy lenses online. My boots look like Docs but they are cheap look-a-likes.
DeleteUuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!! Yummy!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe IFs
This is one fine cape! The colors and the length is beautiful. This is a keeper.
