I wasn't crazy about Haley Mills, but I loved Rosalind Russell, and as a teenager found this film, and its sequel, rather entertaining

Auntie Mame continues to be on my list of films I can watch over and over, just for Russell's performance. Perhaps you did wear that top in High School - it came from a secondhand store ;)
