The Little Black Dress Event
The "Little Black Dress Event", held Thursday night at Up on Carling,
was a fundraiser for Wellspring Cancer Support Centres. It was
interesting to see the many different interpretations of "the little black dress",
and to chat with some of the women there, some of whom were cancer survivors.
For the two women in the photo above, it was an opportunity for a meaningful
moment between former patient and caregiver.
I've always been a fan of the Sheath dress, and I thought
this woman with her chic cropped hair looked great in hers.

All of Thursday's Parties...
There were so many events going on in downtown London last night, for a moment, I thought I was in New York, but only for a moment. From the "Little Black Dress Event" in support of Wellspring, to Honey & Associates Anniversary party at the Arts Project, to the kick off for LOLA (London Ontario Live Arts) Festival at the London Music Hall, and the opening of Aganetha Dyck's exhibit at Michael Gibson Gallery, if you couldn't find something to do, then you deserve to stay home with your television. There was even a hockey game at the JLC. This meant that there were actually people, on the streets, in downtown London, who were not asking you for change or swearing at each other, and were dressed up.
I will be posting photos from the Little Black Dress Event this weekend, so check back, and you may see you and your black dress on my blog.

Plaid Men
Actually, only one man in Plaid, but I'm a big fan of
Mad Men, and "Plaid Man" didn't work very well...
I love this guy's whole outfit--the shirt, with the attached
bow tie (see closeup shot below), the skinny pants, the fitted
jacket; he has great style without being over-the-top. I wish
there had been guys that dressed like this when I was in my 20's.

Weezi Wonderland
Was on my usual Friday after-work search for a post subject, and decided
to visit the temple of things cool and girly, otherwise known as Weezi. In addition
to her delightfully feminine line of clothing, she also sells handmade accessories
and fun stuff for your house. I love the coasters (see above photo) made from
recycled bathroom tiles, featuring such female icons as Audrey Hepburn, Lucille Ball,
Barbarella and Bettie Page. If anyone wants to get me a gift, for any reason, I'm partial
to the Barbarella ones :)

Finally, Summer...
It seems that summer has finally come to the Forest City, and just
in time for the last long weekend. From the look of the crowd on
Barney's patio on Friday afternoon, it was better late than never.
This guy's outfit was a perfect visual metaphor for our state of mind
this weekend--casual, laid back, and ready to soak up the sun.
