I'M BACK BABY!

It's me, at 63

So, it's been a minute (isn't that what the kids say now?).  There was that pandemic, black people were being killed by police and civilians at an alarming rate (not that that was new, but we got to see it played out on social media), businesses closed, the numbers of the homeless skyrocketed, the war in Gaza, then Trump's re-election, and unbelievably it's all gone downhill from there.

I'm not even sure what I want to write about given the state of the world.  After losing my blog domain (that's a long story) I mourned the loss of a platform for my writing.  Instagram isn't doing it for me -  hardly anyone sees my posts - I considered creating a substack, but in the back of my mind I always thought about resurrecting Forest City Fashionista.  Then I met a lovely woman named Bea at the opening of an art exhibit (which includes an outfit of mine, more on that later) who generously spent hours of her time helping me get a new domain, and connecting it to my blogger account.  Without her expertise, you would not be seeing this, and Go Daddy, your customer service kind of sucks.

What have I been up to for the last five years, you may ask.  I'm still working full time, Sylvester is still  the best cat ever (he's 15 years old next month!).  I'm in mostly good health (the digestive issues persist).  My 60's have been a mix of good, and not so good stuff, which is probably the case for most people at this point in their life.  An elderly parent in long term care, discussions about retirement include questions about whether I will be able to afford a place to live,  deaths of friends in their 60's - all have affected my emotional well-being.  Then there are the valuable lessons that have come with ageing;  learning how to pick my battles, care less about what other people think about my life choices, and be better at choosing the people I need to keep in my life and letting go of the ones I don't.  Also, just because you find something amazing at a thrift store, you don't have to buy it.

I wear jeans and sneakers more now because they're comfortable

I'll see how this goes.  It may turn out I don't have anything to say that anyone is interested in reading, and that will be okay, but I'll give it a shot.
