To Market, To Market (to Eat An Apple Fritter)

It was a bit of a insane week at work (to be honest, it's been an insane few months), so by the time Friday came, the idea of doing nothing was kind of appealing.  Instead, I slapped the game face on and photographed two fashion shows and went to a Vintage Clothing Show in Toronto.  It was a busy weekend, but it was "fun busy" as opposed to "I may lose my mind" busy.  Now if I can just get those 400+ photos I shot in the last two days edited, you'll get to see some of them here.  The photo above was me on Saturday morning, in my best "Going to the Farmers' Market For an Apple Fritter" outfit.  After the lovely comments about my leather corset, I thought I'd take it out again, this time with a velvet dress from Lovesick Vintage, the feather trimmed velvet hat from Mesh, and of course, my much loved pink boots.  Hope you all had a good weekend and hopefully there will be some fashion show photos up tomorrow!

Remember When...

...a few short weeks ago, it was warm enough to dress like this?   I spied this guy outside the grocery store and the combination of the platinum blonde hair, white t, and the coral shorts was an "Oh Wow!" moment.  I apologize for the "Attention Shoppers" sign that appears to be growing out of the top of his head.  I'm usually much better at noticing things like that. 

Mine 101 Celebrates Its First Birthday

Mine 101, the clothing resale store operated by Women's Community House, celebrated its first year of business with a fashion show on March 29th.   The models were employees and volunteers of Women's Community House, and they wore clothing  from the store that showcased some of the current trends in Spring and Summer fashion.

The colour orange is big this spring, and the show demonstrated lots of options as to how to incorporate it into your warm weather wardrobe

The organizers made an excellent decision to use women (and a couple of men) of varying body shapes and ages to model the clothes.  The outfits looked great on all the women, and a number of them wanted to purchase what they modelled.

This woman looked just radiant in black and white, and a funky little bow-tie necklace made by a local jewellery designer.

Mine 101 is located in Bellwood Plaza, at 900 Oxford Street East, and is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 am - 6 pm, Thursdays and Fridays from 11 am - 9 pm and Sundays 12 - 4 pm.  Proceeds from sales go towards the support of programs for women and children at Women's Community House.  If you have nearly new clothing that you would like to donate, please note that donations are received and processed at the Women's Community House shelter on Wellington Rd.
